Unusual viewpoints

Aleksander Mikhailovich Rodchenko worked as a painter and graphic designer before turning to photo-montage and photography. His photography was socially engaged, formally innovative, and opposed to a painterly aesthetic. Concerned with the need for analytical-documentary photo series, he often shot his subjects from odd angles—usually high above or below—to shock the viewer and to postpone recognition.

Rodchenko's use of unusual viewpoints make his composition more interesting by using natural lighting to his advantage to get the shadows across the images. His use of different camera angles are what make his work different from the others and what gives it the unusual perspective.

Some examples of his work are shown below:

Annotations:

The purpose of this shoot is to provide a different angle on the things we see in everyday life and don't think about them in any other way. For example, a shopping trolley, many people don't see it as being a piece of art or something that can become a piece of modern art. When taking the shots, I tilted, rotated the camera and I used high and low viewpoints and some pictures that I got are close up shots.

Some successful elements to my shoot are most of my photos were unique and different and I really liked them, especially when I got to edit them and improve them even more.

Some improvements that need to be made would be that some of my pictures look the same so I think that I would need to do a re-shoot in order to get some different shots and different angles as I only had a few different angles.
