CASTLEFIELD SHOOT

When I went to Manchester, I went to Castlefield to do a shoot that is similar to Eugene Atget because he liked to take his images on the edge of the city. This shoot is very different to Bury as Manchester is an urban environment and has lots of little side allys to go and venture down and Manchester is a city whereas Bury is a town with not much around it to go and explore.

The purpose of this shoot was to show off the skills that I have learnt in Part 1. I wanted to incorporate some parts of Eugene Atget's work into the shoot to show that I can do a range of different techniques.

Some successful elements of the shoot were that I felt more confident using the techniques I've learnt from before.

Some improvements that need to be made would be to take more unique photos rather than the basics.

I have chosen for the images below to create a sense of loneliness and to create an atmosphere of emptiness. i have decided to do this because most of Eugene's work is of doorways and streets to emphasise the feelings the Eugene feels.

The pictures below are some of, what I feel to be, my best edits of the Castlefield shoot. They are my favourite because they portray everything that, 'A sense of place' is really about: the loneness, the emptiness and also the disturbed environment and city that we live in. I like how they are all in black and white because this exaggerates the detail and passion in an image than what an image in colour would do.
